What are counting scales?
Counting scales are precise scales that can count multiple identical items instantly. Scaletec supplies a wide variety of digital counting scales from Adam Equipment for accurate stock taking and inventory control.
Counting scales can save you money by accurately measuring quantities instantly, preventing inventory mishaps from human error such as short shipments or giving too much a given product away. They are especially useful in assembly lines to count out the items needed for production, when packaging larger quantities, or for end of year stock taking. Typical uses of counting scales include fast and accurate counting of screws, nuts and bolts in manufacturing, eliminating the need for laborious manual counting.
Do I need a trade approved counting scale?
In South Africa, NRCS trade approved scales are required when selling products by weight. There the type of counting scale you need will depend on how you intend to use it. If you are likely to use the scale for checkweighing or selling food products, jewelry or similar as part of your business, then we would recommend choosing a counting scale that is certified for trade, such as Adam Equipment's CBK or CBC.
If you intend to use your counting scale for parts counting and general warehouse use, then a standard counting scale model should suffice.
You can find out more information about NRCS weighing legislation from the Legal Metrology Act or by visiting the NRCS website.
